Additional Details
- Happy guy who still has some puppy energy, which makes him a perfect adventure buddy
- Has gone on multiple Dog's Day Out field trips, and here's what one of his human companions had to say: "He did soooo good walking on a leash. It took him like 2 minutes of me giving him treats for walking beside me for him to not pull. At the park he didn't care or pay much attention to people walking/biking/running. There was a dog playing fetch close to us, and he didn't pull to go toward him, just minded his business. He's great in the car, gets very excited at the drive-thru and when getting out of the car! He loved the toys I had. He's really good at self-entertaining. We went for a 0.5-mile walk and after that he laid down and played with his toys."
- Knows sit and is highly treat-motivated, so he'd be fun to train
- LOVES riding in the car and looking out the window
- Does best with a harness or vest on walks
- Previous family said he was crate-trained and mostly housetrained in their home; just remember that any dog may need time to get used to a new schedule
- Foster family said he didn't mind being in his crate at all in their home and would go in right away when asked
- Foster family said he was nervous when left alone, but got used to it the longer he was in their home
- Not a fan of loud noises, including fireworks
- Can be a little rowdy when playing, so he'll likely do best in a more mature home
- Would love a home with plenty of room to play and explore
- Can be socially awkward with other dogs and may prefer some dogs over others (dog intro required)
- We don't know his history with cats
This pet qualifies for our 7-day Foster-to-Adopt program. If you're interested in fostering to adopt, please reach out to meetme@arl-iowa.org.
All adoptable dogs and puppies are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations (rabies and DA2PPV as appropriate for their age)
The ARL's shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most dogs we are only guessing at primary breed. We get to know each dog as an individual and do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not breed label.
