---

- Long, lean, string-bean of a dog who loves being active and will follow you around so he can be part of whatever you're doing; has a good bit of energy, making him a perfect adventure buddy

- Loves squeaky toys and likes chewing on bones; other toys are great, too!

- When he's tired, he loves to fold himself into a chair or your lap and fall asleep

- Does well in the car and likes riding with his head out the window so he can feel the air and smell all the smells

- Knows sit, down and shake and is very trainable; still working on his manners, including keeping his feet on the floor when he's excited and resisting the temptation to counter-surf, so training classes might be great for him

- Has been doing well with potty training in his foster home; just remember that any dog may need time to get used to a new schedule

- Has done well in a crate during the day in his foster home; may need a few days to settle into new environments and feel completely comfortable with being alone, though

- Has a hound voice and isn't afraid to use it

- Has done well with kids in his foster home; can be bouncy and forget to watch out for those around him so he may do best in a home where everyone is big enough to handle his energy

- Loves playing with his dog friends and has done well respecting the signals of dogs who don't want to play; would love some dog friends that have a similar play style

- Foster family said he shows some curiosity with cats but will back down when the cats in their home tell him to; in another environment his interest in cats was described as more intense, so he may do better with some cats over others; will do best with a very slow introduction to other cats and may be a better match for cats with stronger personalities

- Has been known to chase chickens, so may do best in a home where he will not have access to any

All adoptable dogs and puppies are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations (rabies and DA2PPV as appropriate for their age)

The ARL's shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most dogs we are only guessing at primary breed. We get to know each dog as an individual and do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not breed label.
